Prime Minister Chính Visits Thanh Hóa Province Ahead of Lunar New Year

Thanh Hóa, January 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: As the nation eagerly prepares to welcome the Lunar New Year, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính visited Ngọc Lặc District in Thanh Hóa Province on Sunday, presenting gifts and extending best wishes to local residents.

During the visit, Chairman of Thanh Hóa Province People’s Committee Đỗ Minh Tuấn reported on the province’s comprehensive efforts to care for families with revolutionary contributions, poor households, and workers during the Tết holiday.

The province allocated over VNĐ420 billion (US$16.7 million) in preferential allowances for more than 64,000 individuals with revolutionary contributions and their families. Additionally, over VNĐ142 billion ($5.6 million) was disbursed in social allowances to benefit more than 187,000 people.

Special Tết activities were organized for over 2,000 individuals residing in social assistance facilities, while VNĐ282 billion ($11.2 million) was used to build and repair more than 4,200 homes for poor households, ensuring a safe and joyful holiday season.

On behalf of the Party and State, PM Chính commended Thanh Hóa’s outstanding achievements, including double-digit economic growth, robust budget revenues, and strong social security measures in 2023. Highlighting Thanh Hóa’s rich cultural and revolutionary traditions, as well as its strategic location with diverse transportation networks, he urged the province to harness its potential for sustainable development.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to improve living standards for all residents, particularly families with meritorious services, low-income households, and workers. He called on the province to ensure that every citizen celebrates Tết without hardship.

PM Chính also outlined key priorities for 2024, including staff reorganization, achieving an 8% economic growth rate with aspirations for double-digit growth, and meeting socio-economic targets for the 2021-25 period. He emphasized the importance of preparing for Party congresses at all levels and celebrating major national events.

To further boost development, the Prime Minister urged Thanh Hóa to focus on renewing growth drivers, expanding the Nghi Sơn economic zone, and advancing development in areas like Sầm Sơn, Bỉm Sơn, and Lam Sơn. He also set the ambitious goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses by the end of the year to provide stable living conditions for all residents.

Expressing optimism, PM Chính stated, “I hope Thanh Hóa Province will continue to unite, maintain high determination, and take decisive actions to achieve even better results in 2024, becoming a true growth engine for the entire nation.”

The visit reflected the government’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind during the festive season, underscoring the shared goal of building a prosperous and inclusive Vietnam.
