Starmer Meets Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Ahead of Ukraine Summit

London, March 1, 2025 – The Europe Today: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday at 10 Downing Street, ahead of a high-level summit on Ukraine scheduled to take place on Sunday.

The upcoming summit, to be hosted by Starmer, will bring together several European leaders to discuss ongoing developments related to Ukraine. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to attend the event on behalf of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

During his visit to the United Kingdom, President Zelenskyy is also expected to hold a meeting with King Charles III. The engagement, requested by the British government, underscores the UK’s continued support for Ukraine amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Zelenskyy’s visit to London follows a contentious exchange with former U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the Oval Office. During the meeting, Trump criticized Zelenskyy’s approach, while the Ukrainian leader reaffirmed his expectations of continued U.S. support for his country.

Following the discussion, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to argue that Zelenskyy was “not yet ready for peace.” In response, Zelenskyy addressed the matter in an interview with Fox News, stating that he saw no reason to apologize to Trump, as he had done nothing that warranted an apology.

The developments come as Ukraine continues to seek international backing amid ongoing conflict, with the upcoming London summit expected to be a key platform for further diplomatic engagements and discussions on future support mechanisms.
