Ashgabat, March 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met on Wednesday in Ashgabat with Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye. The discussions primarily focused on the significance of Turkmen gas supplies to Türkiye and their potential expansion to other interested countries.
Minister Bayraktar arrived in Ashgabat leading a delegation to participate in the International Conference titled International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development. The event was widely covered by Turkmenistan’s official media.
President Berdimuhamedov underscored that the outcomes of the forum would provide new momentum for enhancing intergovernmental relations, particularly in the energy sector. He reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Türkiye in this strategic domain.
The meeting also addressed broader areas of bilateral collaboration, including fuel and energy, transportation and communication, agriculture, and investment. A key point of discussion was the implementation of Turkish projects along Turkmenistan’s Caspian coast, notably the construction of a combined-cycle power plant. This project is expected to facilitate the export of Turkmen electricity via the Caspian to Türkiye and beyond.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening Turkmen-Turkish relations, founded on the principles of brotherhood and good-neighborliness.
