Moscow, May 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tô Lâm held a bilateral meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of his official engagement in Moscow.
During the meeting, General Secretary Lâm conveyed warm regards from Việt Nam’s senior leaders to the Chinese head of state. He highly commended the outcomes of President Xi’s recent state visit to Việt Nam, describing it as a significant milestone in the ongoing development of Việt Nam–China relations.
Lâm reaffirmed Vietnam’s readiness to work closely with China to effectively implement high-level common understandings and joint statements, with the aim of continuously advancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building the Vietnam–China community with a shared future of strategic importance, in line with the six agreed-upon directions.
To further strengthen bilateral ties, the Vietnamese Party chief proposed enhancing regular high-level exchanges in flexible formats and promoting practical cooperation across key sectors, particularly in railway connectivity. He also advocated for the expansion of collaboration in emerging fields.
General Secretary Lâm stressed the importance of making science-technology cooperation and digital transformation new highlights and growth drivers in bilateral relations. He called on China to support Việt Nam in training human resources in science and technology to meet future development demands.
On trade and economic cooperation, Lâm expressed hope that both nations would foster healthy and stable trade ties. He encouraged China to increase imports of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, along with other key goods. He also underlined the importance of effectively managing and resolving maritime issues to create a stable and favorable environment for national development and bilateral cooperation in the new era.
President Xi welcomed General Secretary Lâm’s proposals for future cooperation, affirming China’s high regard for the Vietnam–China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the community with a shared future, which he said remains a priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy.
Xi emphasized the necessity of accelerating the implementation of high-level agreements and mutual understandings, enhancing political trust, and improving the quality and efficiency of cooperation in all sectors. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening public support as a vital foundation for deepening and sustaining the relationship between the two Parties and nations.
The meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment of both sides to further elevate the Vietnam–China partnership to new heights, contributing to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
