Avaza, August 22, 2025 — The Europe Today: The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held talks on Friday with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Congress Center of the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
According to the press service of the Uzbek President, the meeting was conducted in both one-on-one and expanded formats, focusing on deepening Turkmen-Uzbek relations of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership.
The two sides noted the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has already reached $700 million since the beginning of the year, supported by a free trade regime introduced in February. Trade houses have opened in both capitals, while joint projects are advancing in industry, energy, transport, agriculture, water management, and other areas. The launch of the “Shavat–Dashoguz” trade zone is scheduled for later this year.
The leaders emphasized the role of intergovernmental commissions and the Business Council in fostering economic collaboration. They also exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and highlighted the practical significance of ongoing trilateral cooperation in the “Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan” format.
