Turkmenistan, WHO Review Health Cooperation, Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Partnership

Ashgabat, April 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova held a meeting on April 14, 2026, with Yegor Zaitsev, Head of the World Health Organization Country Office in Ashgabat, to review ongoing cooperation and explore future avenues of collaboration in the healthcare sector.

During the discussions, both sides assessed the current state of Turkmenistan–WHO relations and emphasized the importance of advancing cooperation in priority areas of public health. The meeting underscored the shared commitment to enhancing healthcare systems and promoting international collaboration in addressing global health challenges.

Particular attention was given to the outcomes of the High-Level Dialogue on Global Health Diplomacy held in Ashgabat in February this year, which was jointly organized by the Government of Turkmenistan and the World Health Organization. The dialogue was noted as a significant platform for strengthening multilateral engagement and fostering coordinated approaches to health diplomacy.

The parties also exchanged views on a series of joint events planned for the remainder of 2026, aimed at further consolidating cooperation and expanding practical engagement in the health sector.

Reaffirming their mutual interest, both sides expressed readiness to continue the consistent implementation of joint initiatives and projects, highlighting the importance of sustained partnership in improving healthcare delivery and advancing public health outcomes in Turkmenistan.
