Rabat, August 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Moroccan women’s futsal team has achieved a historic milestone, climbing 16 places in the latest FIFA world rankings following their victory at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
The updated rankings come just months ahead of the inaugural Women’s Futsal World Cup, scheduled for November in the Philippines. While Brazil continues to lead the global standings, the revised rankings will play a crucial role in determining seedings for the tournament draw on September 15.
According to FIFA, Morocco played 15 matches during the ranking period – more than any other women’s futsal team worldwide. Their efforts culminated in winning the continental title, which also secured their qualification for the World Cup, propelling them from 47th to 31st in the global rankings.
Since the last ranking update in April, 95 matches have been played across the globe, bringing the total number of women’s futsal internationals in 2025 to 206. FIFA noted that Morocco not only emerged as African champions but also ranked among the fastest-rising teams internationally.
