Pakistan–Ethiopia Agree to Strengthen Cooperation in Science and Technology

Islamabad, May 2, 2026 – The Europe Today: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba paid a courtesy call on H.E. Khalid Hussain Magsi, Federal Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for Science and Technology, at his office in Islamabad.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation through the development of a joint framework aimed at effectively implementing the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology and Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

Ambassador Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba highlighted the importance of initiating collaborative scientific research, specialized training programs, and technology transfer initiatives, with a particular focus on the agriculture, manufacturing, and information and communication technology (ICT) sectors.

The Federal Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening relations with Ethiopia, noting Ethiopia’s strategic importance within Pakistan’s “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policy frameworks. He emphasized that enhanced cooperation in science and technology would contribute significantly to mutual development and innovation-driven growth in both countries.
