Serbian President Vučić Praises Azerbaijan’s Progress, Commends Baku’s Hosting of WUF13

Baku, May 18, 2026 – The Europe Today: Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Monday praised Azerbaijan’s rapid development and lauded President Ilham Aliyev for hosting the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

Addressing the Leaders’ Statements session of the forum, Vučić expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Azerbaijani leadership and people, describing the event as “unforgettable.” He said that every visit to Baku allowed him to witness remarkable progress and transformation in Azerbaijan.

The Serbian President commended President Ilham Aliyev’s determination and dedication towards the development of the country, saying that the unity between the Azerbaijani people and their leadership was the driving force behind the nation’s achievements and modernization.

Vučić also thanked Azerbaijan for organizing innovative initiatives during WUF13, noting that such efforts would help unlock the full potential of the global urban development platform. He remarked that it was fitting for Azerbaijan, situated on the shores of the Caspian Sea, to host a major international forum focused on urbanization and city planning challenges.

Highlighting the importance of inclusive urban development, the Serbian leader said that ensuring accessible and safe housing for all required the joint participation of governments, private entities, non-governmental organizations, and business communities.

He noted that thousands of participants from around the world had gathered in Baku to deliberate on the future of cities and discuss solutions to growing urban development challenges.
