Ashgabat, May 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan on Monday widely celebrated the Day of the Constitution and State Flag with nationwide festivities, cultural programmes, and public events held across the country.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended congratulations to the Turkmen people on the national occasion, according to official media reports.
In his message, the Turkmen leader described the Constitution and the State Flag as sacred national symbols representing the country’s independence, neutrality, unity, and cohesion.
President Berdimuhamedov noted that the Constitution defines the human being as the highest value of society and the state, while the national flag symbolizes the inviolability of Turkmenistan’s sovereignty and enduring national values.
He explained that the green colour of the flag represents renewal and life, while the traditional carpet ornaments reflect the honour of the nation, its peaceful character, and prosperity. The olive branches, he added, symbolize the country’s commitment to humanism and peace.
The President further stated that the crescent moon and five stars on the flag represent the unity of the Turkmen people and inspire national progress, adding that the celestial symbols serve as a lasting sign of cohesion and solidarity.
To mark the occasion, musical celebrations, cultural activities, and public gatherings were organised in the capital city of Ashgabat, the city of Arkadag, and across all provinces of the country.
