Baku, June 14, 2026 — The Europe Today: Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Ünal Üstel, Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), on June 13 to discuss the development of bilateral relations and opportunities for expanding cooperation across various sectors.
During the meeting, the two leaders welcomed the growing momentum of high-level contacts between Azerbaijan and the TRNC, highlighting the strengthening of interparliamentary relations and increasing collaboration between the political parties of both sides.
The prime ministers emphasized the importance of the Days of Culture of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, currently being held in Baku, describing the event as a significant contribution to fostering cultural dialogue and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
Both sides praised the organization of the cultural event, noting that it represents a natural continuation of the expanding cultural and humanitarian ties that have developed steadily in recent years.
The discussions also focused on cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, where the officials highlighted the successful development of relations among member and observer states. They commended the active participation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the activities of the organization in its capacity as an observer state.
The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of strengthening solidarity and collaboration within the Turkic world and expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of relations between Azerbaijan and the TRNC.
In addition to cultural and political cooperation, the parties exchanged views on prospects for expanding collaboration in a range of fields, including economic, humanitarian, and institutional areas, with the aim of further deepening bilateral engagement.
The meeting reflected the continued commitment of both Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to enhancing their partnership and exploring new opportunities for cooperation that contribute to mutual development and regional connectivity.
