Tehran, July 4, 2026 – The Europe Today: Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, participated in a mourning ceremony in Tehran to pay tribute to the memory of the late Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, during his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.
The ceremony took place at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla Mosque, where Berdimuhamedov was received by Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and other senior officials. The event commenced with an official musical performance by the Honor Guard, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
Paying homage to the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Berdimuhamedov offered prayers for the repose of his soul. He also conveyed heartfelt condolences and messages of solidarity to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior Iranian officials on behalf of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as personally and on behalf of the Turkmen people.
During the ceremony, Berdimuhamedov signed the official book of condolences, expressing his respect and sympathy over the passing of the Iranian leader.
As part of his visit to Tehran, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty also held separate meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to discuss matters of bilateral interest and cooperation.
