Dushanbe, July 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, continued his working visit to Shahriston District on Monday by reviewing an investment project for the construction of the Shahriston Eco-Resort, a major tourism complex aimed at promoting sustainable mountain tourism and strengthening the country’s tourism sector.
The eco-resort will be developed in four construction phases and is scheduled for completion in the Khurramdara area of Shahriston District by the 40th anniversary of Tajikistan’s State Independence.
According to project officials, the tourism complex will cover a total area of 15 hectares and include a ropeway stretching more than five kilometres, providing visitors with panoramic access to the surrounding mountain landscape.
The project also envisages the construction of a modern hotel with the capacity to accommodate up to 1,000 domestic and international tourists simultaneously. Upon completion, the complex is expected to create around 100 permanent jobs, contributing to local employment and economic development.
President Rahmon described the implementation of such multi-purpose infrastructure projects in Shahriston District’s villages as an important step towards rural development. He encouraged local authorities and residents to continue contributing actively to the country’s development and beautification efforts.
The Tajik leader also issued instructions and recommendations to relevant officials on ensuring the sustainable development of mountain tourism, establishing modern resort facilities that meet contemporary standards, and attracting a greater number of domestic and international tourists to Tajikistan.
