Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan Review Bilateral Cooperation, Reaffirm Commitment to Regional Stability

Ashgabat, July 15, 2026 – The Europe Today:  Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation and strengthening regional stability during talks between the foreign ministers of the two neighboring countries in Ashgabat.

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to review the growing partnership and discuss a broad range of bilateral, regional, and international issues.

During the meeting, both ministers expressed satisfaction with the strong momentum in Turkmen-Uzbek relations, noting that cooperation continues to receive significant impetus through regular, trust-based dialogue between the leadership of the two countries.

The discussions focused on the practical implementation of agreements reached during previous high-level engagements, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to advancing mutually beneficial cooperation.

The ministers reviewed progress on joint projects across key sectors, including trade and economic cooperation, transport and logistics, energy, and industrial development. They also discussed measures to further enhance connectivity and expand economic ties between the two countries.

Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening long-standing cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The two sides explored opportunities to organize additional joint initiatives in the fields of science, education, and the arts, aimed at deepening people-to-people exchanges and preserving the close historical and cultural links between the neighboring nations.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on major regional and international developments. The foreign ministers reaffirmed the convergence of their positions on promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development in Central Asia, underscoring the importance of continued regional cooperation in addressing shared challenges.

The talks reflected the enduring strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and their shared commitment to fostering regional integration, economic growth, and constructive dialogue in Central Asia.
