Ankara, July 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: A delegation from Azerbaijan’s New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) met with Speaker of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ziya Öztürkler during a visit to Nicosia to participate in events marking the 52nd anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
The YAP delegation was led by Anar Mammadov, a member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, and included Orhan Hasanoğlu, President of the Azerbaijan–Cyprus Friendship Society.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties and parliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The visit forms part of Azerbaijan’s participation in commemorative events marking the anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation and reflects the growing engagement between Azerbaijani political representatives and institutions in the TRNC.
Earlier, a separate delegation from Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, headed by Javanshir Feyziyev, Chairman of the Working Group on Azerbaijan–TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Relations, also visited the TRNC Parliament, underscoring continued efforts to enhance inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation between the two sides.
