Jakarta, August 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesia secured one silver and one bronze medal at the 2026 CMAS Asia Underwater Hockey Championships, held at the Aquatic Center of Hotel Seruni in Puncak, Bogor District, West Java, from August 5 to 8.
According to a press statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, the silver medal was won by Cucut Underwater Hockey Club in the U15 category, while Indonesia’s women’s elite team claimed the bronze medal.
“Congratulations on the medals won by the Elite Women’s Team and Cucut UWH Club,” said Nur Kholis, Secretary General of the Indonesian Underwater Sports Association (PB POSSI).
He expressed appreciation to the athletes, officials, delegates from the international governing body CMAS, organizing committee, volunteers and all other parties who contributed to the successful staging of the championships.
In the U15 final, Cucut Underwater Hockey narrowly missed out on the gold medal after suffering a 5-4 defeat against Malaysia A in a closely contested encounter.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s women’s elite team finished third to secure the bronze medal. Janis Rosalita and her teammates were defeated 11-3 by the Philippines in their decisive match.
PB POSSI Chairman Makhruzi Rahman said the achievements of Indonesian athletes should serve as motivation to further improve their capabilities ahead of future international competitions.
He urged the athletes to remain focused on training and continuously develop their technical skills to enable Indonesian underwater hockey to become increasingly competitive at both Asian and international levels.
Rahman also expressed hope that Indonesia’s hosting of the continental championship would help increase public awareness of underwater hockey while supporting the development of athlete training and development programs.
The 2026 CMAS Asia Underwater Hockey Championships brought together 276 athletes from seven countries — Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Japan and China.
The regional tournament featured competitions in the men’s elite, women’s elite, U15 and U19 categories. Indonesia fielded national teams in the men’s and women’s elite divisions, while clubs including Cucut Underwater Hockey, Bhinneka Stars and Searia represented the country in the age-group categories.
