Ashgabat, August 29, 2026 – The Europe Today: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Turkmenistan Philippe Merlin, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Ashgabat.
During the meeting, Ambassador Merlin expressed his gratitude to the Turkmen side for the warm hospitality extended to him during his tenure in the country.
The sides highlighted the consistent development of Turkmenistan-France relations across political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Particular emphasis was placed on contacts at the highest and high levels as a key factor in strengthening and advancing bilateral relations.
The meeting also focused on trade and economic cooperation, identified as one of the principal areas of bilateral partnership. In this regard, the sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, water management and green technologies.
The parties also noted the effectiveness of the longstanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and France in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
