London, September 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: A ceremonial event marking the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in London on September 4 on the initiative of the Embassy of Tajikistan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The event brought together senior representatives of the UK government, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Members of Parliament and Lords, officials from various government institutions, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in London, representatives of the private sector, media organizations, academic and cultural institutions, as well as members of the Tajik community residing in the United Kingdom.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to the United Kingdom Rukhsana Emomali highlighted the historical and political significance of Tajikistan’s independence and the country’s major achievements under the leadership of President of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon.
The ambassador also emphasized Tajikistan’s growing role and standing in the international arena and outlined prospects for further developing bilateral relations and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom.
Following the official segment, a cultural programme featuring Tajik songs and opera performances was presented, adding to the celebratory atmosphere and entertaining the guests.
An exhibition of Tajik national products and a dedicated cultural corner showcasing the country’s heritage and traditions were also organized as part of the event.
The ceremony served as an opportunity to highlight Tajikistan’s national achievements, cultural heritage and growing international engagement, while underscoring the importance of strengthening relations and cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom.
