Baku, September 11, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Magdalena Grono to discuss Azerbaijan-EU cooperation, prospects for strengthening bilateral relations, and regional developments.
According to media reports, the meeting also addressed efforts to promote peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
The sides emphasized the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and regular contacts in advancing the Azerbaijan-EU agenda and expanding cooperation across various areas.
Particular attention was given to strengthening the institutional and legal framework governing Azerbaijan-EU relations. The officials discussed efforts to complete negotiations on the Partnership Priorities document, as well as prospects for launching negotiations on a new bilateral agreement.
The meeting also focused on regional peace and security, including efforts to advance the normalization process and build confidence between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The sides highlighted the importance of the August meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Bishkek, describing it as significant for advancing the regional peace agenda.
The officials also exchanged views on developments in the region’s energy, transport and communications sectors, along with other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
The discussions reaffirmed the importance of continued Azerbaijan-EU engagement in supporting regional stability, connectivity and expanded cooperation.
