Seoul, September 18, 2026 – The Europe Today: A ceremony to confer an honorary 9th Dan in Taekwondo on President of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon was held on September 17 at the headquarters of the World Taekwondo Federation during his official visit to the Republic of Korea.
President of World Taekwondo Yoon Ung-sok warmly welcomed President Emomali Rahmon at the federation’s headquarters.
Prior to the ceremony, a Taekwondo demonstration was presented for the visiting head of state.
Yoon Ung-sok then read out the decision of the World Taekwondo Council to award President Rahmon the honorary 9th Dan.
During the ceremony, President Rahmon was presented with the honorary 9th Dan and formally dressed in the Taekwondo uniform.
Expressing gratitude to the leadership of the federation for the honour, President Rahmon noted that Taekwondo, in addition to being a popular Olympic sport, embodies a philosophy of healthy living as well as spiritual and cultural connections among people.
The President wished the leadership of World Taekwondo continued success in further developing the federation and advancing its noble objectives.
