Dushanbe, September 27, 2026 — The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, inaugurated a number of important energy facilities in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), including projects in Ishkashim, Shughnon, Rushon and Murghob districts.
Among the facilities inaugurated was the 110/35 kV Qozideh substation, constructed in Qozideh village of Ishkashim District. The facility was built under the Badakhshan Electrification Project and is designed to strengthen the local electricity network and improve the reliability of power supplies in Ishkashim.
In Shughnon District, President Rahmon inaugurated a 3-megawatt solar power plant in Rozh village. Officials reported that the facility is among the region’s major renewable energy projects and is equipped with 4,752 solar panels.
The President also commissioned a 112-kilowatt solar power plant in Vranjan village of Rushon District. The facility was constructed to improve electricity supplies for local residents and contribute to better living conditions and the development of social and economic infrastructure in mountainous areas.
In the Bartang community of Rushon District, President Rahmon inaugurated a 25-kilowatt small hydropower plant in Bijrav village. The facility is expected to provide residents with a more reliable electricity supply and support improvements in the village’s social infrastructure.
In Devlokh village of the Barushon community in Rushon District, the President commissioned a 15-kilowatt hydropower plant. The project is intended to improve electricity access for local residents and create favorable conditions for the further development of rural infrastructure.
In Tokhtamish village of the Qizilrabot community in Murghob District, President Rahmon remotely commissioned two pilot wind power plants with a combined capacity of 200 kilowatts. The facilities were constructed within the framework of cooperation between Tajikistan and development partners.
Solar panels have also been installed at the site over an area of more than one hectare. Their combined capacity is 1,138 kilowatts, while the energy storage capacity of the battery system reaches 590 kilowatt-hours. The integrated renewable energy complex is designed to provide electricity to 145 households throughout the year.
The President also commissioned a 110-kilovolt electricity transmission line in Rushon District. The new transmission line extends for 42 kilometers and is expected to play an important role in the further development of the district’s energy sector while enhancing the stability and reliability of electricity supplies.
The inauguration of the energy facilities reflects ongoing efforts to expand electricity infrastructure and promote renewable energy development in the mountainous communities of Gorno-Badakhshan.
