Tajikistan’s 35th Independence Anniversary Celebrated in Islamabad

Islamabad, October 8, 2026 – The Europe Today: A grand ceremony was held in the federal capital on Wednesday to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Tajikistan, highlighting the longstanding bonds of friendship, fraternity and cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and Senator Talah Mahmood were also present as distinguished guests.

Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda hosted the ceremony and welcomed diplomats, government officials, representatives of civil society and other distinguished guests.

The celebrations featured a cake-cutting ceremony, with the Chief Guest, the Ambassador and other prominent participants jointly cutting a commemorative cake to mark the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of Pakistan-Tajikistan relations, noting that the bilateral ties were deeply rooted in shared history, cultural affinities and mutual interests.

They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in key areas, particularly trade, tourism, energy and regional connectivity. They also emphasized the importance of enhancing people-to-people contacts and promoting greater interaction between the two countries.

The participation of diplomats, government officials and civil society representatives reflected the close diplomatic and people-to-people relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the continued peace, prosperity and progress of Tajikistan and its people, as well as for further strengthening the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries.
