President Emomali Rahmon Launches Construction of New International Airport Terminal in Dushanbe

Dushanbe, October 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, accompanied by Chairman of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, laid the foundation stone for a new international terminal at Dushanbe International Airport on Friday evening following his return from Turkmenistan.

During a briefing on the terminal’s development project, officials informed the president that the facility would be constructed in accordance with modern international standards.

The new terminal is designed to handle 8.5 million passengers annually, significantly strengthening the airport’s capacity to accommodate growing passenger traffic and improve the quality of services.

The construction period has been set at 18 months. The project will use high-quality construction materials and involve hundreds of experienced specialists to ensure the facility meets the required standards.

The new terminal aims to provide passengers with high-quality arrival and departure services in line with international requirements while reflecting Tajikistan’s traditional hospitality.

During his visit, President Rahmon instructed airport management and other responsible officials to ensure that construction work was carried out to a high standard and that the terminal was completed and commissioned within the stipulated timeframe.
