Baku, October 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Media and Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan has warned the public against a fake letter circulating on social media and messaging platforms that allegedly claims the Ministry of Health has imposed restrictions on wearing hijabs in medical facilities.
According to the Council, the document is forged, and the Ministry of Health has neither issued such a letter nor instructed medical facilities to introduce any restrictions on wearing hijabs.
The Council stated that presenting the forged document as genuine official correspondence constitutes disinformation that could mislead the public and contribute to the spread of false information.
It urged media organisations and social media users to verify information through official sources before sharing it and to refrain from circulating the document as an authentic government communication.
The Council also called on the public to exercise caution when encountering unverified information online and to avoid actions that could facilitate the spread of disinformation.
The advisory underscores the importance of responsible information-sharing practices and verification of official communications to prevent misleading content from circulating across digital platforms.
