Washington, October 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced plans to give one share of his aerospace company, SpaceX, to every child in the United States next year, in a move that could be worth more than $10 billion.
Musk announced the proposed initiative on Monday through a post on his social media platform, X, stating that he intended to distribute one of his SpaceX shares to every child in America in 2027. He described the pledge as the “first of many” similar initiatives.
The proposed distribution could cover approximately 72 million to 73 million children across the United States. Based on SpaceX’s closing share price of $146.03 on Friday, the total value of the planned giveaway would amount to approximately $10.5 billion to $10.7 billion.
However, Musk has not yet provided details regarding eligibility criteria, the mechanism for transferring the shares to children, or the legal and administrative arrangements required to implement the plan.
The announcement followed a separate move by artificial intelligence company Anthropic, which said it would commit five percent of its shares to a newly established Public Benefit Fund intended to support public-interest initiatives. In response, Musk advocated distributing shares directly to the public rather than placing them in a dedicated fund.
The proposal has also drawn attention to the potential role of private-sector wealth in supporting children’s financial futures. If implemented, the initiative would give millions of American children a direct ownership stake in SpaceX, although the eventual value of those shares would depend on the company’s future market performance.
For now, the pledge remains an announcement of intent, with further details needed to establish how the proposed distribution would be carried out.
