Baku, October 23, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan has signed an agreement confirming its participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh, marking a significant milestone in preparations for the international exhibition and reflecting the strengthening partnership between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.
The agreement was signed in Baku by Talal Al-Marri, Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh, and Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the country’s Commissioner-General for Expo 2030 Riyadh.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Alakbarov highlighted the strong relations between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which are founded on friendship, mutual respect, and close cooperation. He noted that bilateral ties continue to expand across political, economic, energy, and cultural sectors.
He said Azerbaijan’s participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh reflected the importance of this partnership and demonstrated the country’s support for Saudi Arabia in hosting the major international event.
Alakbarov also emphasized that Azerbaijan’s pavilion would provide an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations by presenting the country’s rich historical heritage, cultural identity, and vision for the future to visitors from around the world.
Meanwhile, Talal Al-Marri noted that international participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh was steadily increasing, with countries that had confirmed their attendance already working on pavilion preparations and developing programmes to engage visitors.
He described the agreement with Azerbaijan as an important milestone in the exhibition’s preparations, adding that Expo 2030 Riyadh would bring countries and peoples together, facilitate the exchange of ideas, strengthen international cooperation, and create opportunities for new partnerships.
The exhibition is expected to serve as a global platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration, encouraging participating countries to share their experiences and contribute to shaping a common future.
Expo 2030 Riyadh will take place from October 1, 2030, to March 21, 2031. Preparatory work is currently underway, including the development of the exhibition site and the construction of initial infrastructure.
