Azerbaijan National Library Marks Gubadli City Day with Book Exhibitions

Azerbaijan National Library

Baku, October 25, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Azerbaijan National Library has organised virtual and traditional book exhibitions titled “October 25 – Gubadli City Day” to commemorate the anniversary of the city’s liberation during the 2020 Patriotic War.

The exhibitions bring together publications in Azerbaijani and other languages covering the history of Gubadli, its place names and its ancient cultural monuments. The collection also features works on the Patriotic War, Azerbaijan’s victory, the nation’s heroes, and the soldiers and officers who gave their lives in the struggle to restore the country’s territorial integrity.

Gubadli was liberated by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on October 25, 2020, during the 44-day Patriotic War, after nearly three decades under Armenian occupation that began in 1993. The city’s liberation marked a significant milestone in the military campaign to restore Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

October 25 is observed annually as Gubadli City Day, in accordance with a presidential decree signed in 2023.

Through the exhibitions, the National Library aims to preserve the historical memory of Gubadli, highlight its rich cultural heritage, and honour the courage and sacrifice of those who contributed to the restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over its lands.
