Parliament

Dushanbe, November 6, 2026, The Europe Today: The regular sitting of the third session of the seventh convocation of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (lower chamber of the Parliament of Tajikistan) was held on November 4 under the chairmanship of Speaker Faizali Idizoda, focusing on agreements related to the rehabilitation of the Rushon–Varshez highway.

According to the Majlisi Namoyandagon, the lawmakers reviewed a series of agreements between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), including arrangements concerning the bank’s role as administrator of the IsDB Concessional Fund for the first phase of the Rushon–Varshez Road Rehabilitation Project.

The agreements covered sales undertakings, agency arrangements, forward lease agreements and lease-period service agreements between the Tajik government and the Islamic Development Bank.

The parliamentary session also examined purchase undertakings concluded between Tajikistan and the Islamic Development Bank, both in its capacity as the bank itself and as administrator of the IsDB Concessional Fund.

Following discussions, the parliament adopted the relevant decisions on the agreements.

The consideration and approval of these arrangements mark an important step in advancing the first phase of the Rushon–Varshez highway rehabilitation project, aimed at improving road infrastructure and strengthening transport connectivity in Tajikistan.
