Lanzhou, September 14, 2024 — The Europe Today: Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on Gansu Province to deepen reform, foster innovation, and improve the well-being of its people as part of the nation’s broader drive toward modernization. Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these remarks during an inspection tour of the province from Tuesday to Friday.

President Xi emphasized the need for Gansu to take decisive steps in ecological conservation and restoration, accelerate its green and low-carbon transition, and comprehensively deepen reform and opening up. He also stressed the importance of rural revitalization, safeguarding people’s livelihoods, and strengthening ethnic unity as crucial components of the province’s development strategy.

During his visit to Tianshui City on Tuesday, Xi toured the Fuxi Temple, dedicated to Fuxi, a mythical ancestor of the Chinese nation. He underscored the importance of preserving China’s rich cultural heritage, stating that the wisdom and creativity of ancestors should continue to inspire future generations, fostering national pride and confidence.

On Wednesday, Xi reviewed a local water diversion project, emphasizing the need for improved maintenance and management to ensure it plays a greater role in enhancing people’s lives. Later that day, he visited the Huaniu apple production base, where he encouraged optimizing cultivation techniques and innovating marketing models to expand the industry, ultimately increasing incomes for local farmers.

Xi also toured the Maijishan Grottoes, where he carefully inspected the ancient caves, sculptures, and paintings that have been preserved for over 1,600 years. He called on cultural relic workers to contribute more to the preservation and innovative development of China’s traditional culture, enhancing its global influence.
