Vietnamese Leader Tô Lâm Hosts Cuban Ambassador, Highlights Strong Bilateral Ties

Hanoi, September 19, 2024 – The Europe Today: Party General Secretary and State President of Vietnam, Tô Lâm, held a reception for Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen, on Thursday in Hà Nội. The meeting emphasized the strong and enduring relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.

President Lâm expressed his gratitude to Cuba’s First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez for Cuba’s offer to send experts and doctors to assist Vietnam in recovering from the devastation caused by Typhoon Yagi. He noted the positive developments in the two nations’ bilateral relations and reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to the special solidarity shared between the two countries.

Lâm also thanked President Diaz-Canel for inviting him on a state visit to Cuba, expressing hope that the visit will further strengthen trust, solidarity, and cooperation between the two nations, advancing Vietnam-Cuba relations to new levels of practical and sustainable development.

Ambassador Guillen, in turn, praised Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the past 40 years and its progress in international integration, noting that these achievements have bolstered the nation’s global reputation. He highlighted the anticipation in Cuba for Lâm’s upcoming visit, underscoring the importance of this visit in deepening bilateral ties.

Lâm concluded by asking Ambassador Guillen to convey his regards to Cuban revolution leader Raúl Castro Ruz, President Diaz-Canel, and other high-ranking leaders, further strengthening the bonds between the two nations.
