Indonesia and France Establish Partnership to Enhance Aviation Safety and Efficiency

Jakarta, December 8, 2024 – The Europe Today: The governments of Indonesia and France have formalized a partnership in the field of aviation aimed at enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and the overall security of air travel. The agreement was discussed during the 9th Steering Committee meeting held on Thursday, December 5, in Tangerang, Indonesia, between officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation and France’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC).

M. Mauludin, Director of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations at Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation, confirmed that the meeting served as a follow-up to Attachment IV of a technical cooperation agreement signed on December 2, 2024, at the residence of the French Ambassador. The meeting focused on a series of planned activities to be carried out over the course of the technical cooperation, involving experts from Airbus and Bureau Veritas.

Key areas of the cooperation include the standardization of aviation safety and operations inspectors’ competencies, the development of a risk-based mindset and supervision approach, and the implementation of the National Aviation Safety Program. Additionally, the partnership will support the adoption of quality management systems, as well as the development of operational procedures and performance-based navigation systems, including Required Navigation Performance Authorization Required (RNP AR).

Mauludin expressed appreciation for the ongoing strategic collaboration between Indonesia and France, emphasizing the importance of this partnership as a strong foundation for future progress. “The Directorate General of Air Transportation is committed to supporting every program agreed upon in this Steering Committee,” he stated, underscoring the Ministry’s readiness to facilitate the DGAC’s access to necessary personnel, facilities, manuals, and data for the technical cooperation.

Thibaut Lallemand, Director of Asia-Pacific Cooperation at the DGAC of France, reiterated the French government’s commitment to supporting Indonesia in enhancing its safety monitoring capabilities. He expressed optimism that the collaboration would yield mutual benefits in the development of civil aviation safety for both countries.
