Kuala Lumpur, February 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: During the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Malaysia, key negotiations were held between representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, IT Park Uzbekistan, and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
MDEC, established in 1996, operates under Malaysia’s Ministry of Digital and is responsible for promoting and developing the country’s digital economy.
The discussions focused on the imminent signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at fostering digital economy development and innovation in both nations. Additionally, the preparation of an Uzbekistan–Malaysia Trade Mission in the Syrdarya region was highlighted as a strategic initiative to strengthen economic ties.
A particular emphasis was placed on IT sector collaboration, which presents new business opportunities for both Malaysia and Uzbekistan. The talks explored promising avenues for cooperation in digital economy development and IT outsourcing.
Following the negotiations, a Memorandum of Cooperation is expected to be signed. The agreement encompasses outsourcing IT processes to IT Park Uzbekistan residents, organizing events to introduce Uzbekistan’s business landscape, facilitating the establishment of offices for Malaysian IT companies, and supporting startup and innovation ecosystem growth.
This partnership is set to enhance bilateral economic relations and contribute to the digital transformation of both countries.
