Ashgabat, February 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with UN Deputy Secretary-General Rabab Fatima on Monday in Ashgabat to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and preparations for the upcoming UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, scheduled for August in the Turkmen capital.

During the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to expanding engagement with international organizations, emphasizing that strategic cooperation with the United Nations remains a key priority of the country’s foreign policy. The discussions highlighted mutual efforts to enhance collaboration across various sectors in line with Turkmenistan’s development agenda and global sustainability goals.

The Turkmen leader underscored the importance of advancing transport and communication infrastructure, describing Turkmenistan as a vital link in global multimodal transport corridors. He noted the country’s strategic geographical position, which facilitates its role as a key hub in both the North-South and East-West transport corridors, contributing to regional and global connectivity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies.
