Ashgabat, March 19, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau, Dimitri Kerkentzes, to discuss the expansion of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
During the meeting, Dimitri Kerkentzes emphasized the Bureau’s keen interest in strengthening traditional ties with Turkmenistan. He also praised the high organizational standards of the recent exhibition held in Ashgabat to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his confidence that the visit of Secretary General Kerkentzes would further enhance cooperation between Turkmenistan and the BIE. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to fostering strong international partnerships, particularly in the field of exhibitions and economic diplomacy.
The discussions underscored the vital role of international exhibitions in promoting trade, economic collaboration, and global economic engagement. Both sides acknowledged the productive nature of the existing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the BIE and reiterated the importance of further strengthening these ties.
Additionally, it was noted that Turkmenistan is actively implementing the “Concept of International Exhibition Activities of Turkmenistan for 2024-2025,” which prioritizes international trade expansion and enhanced engagement with the BIE. As a member of the Bureau, Turkmenistan actively participates in major world and specialized exhibitions across various countries.
President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to participating in the World Expo 2025, set to take place in Osaka this April. He extended his best wishes for the event’s success, recognizing the BIE’s role as the organizer of this global exhibition.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s dedication to hosting and participating in international exhibitions aimed at promoting universal development. He also conveyed his best wishes to Secretary General Kerkentzes for continued success in his endeavors.
