Turkmenistan Provides Humanitarian Corridor for Foreign Citizens Transiting from Iran

Ashgabat, June 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan has established a 24-hour humanitarian corridor to support foreign nationals arriving from Iran, reaffirming its commitment to regional solidarity and international cooperation amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, hundreds of foreign citizens—primarily from India, China, Pakistan, and other nations—have safely transited through Turkmen border checkpoints in recent days.

“The Turkmen authorities ensure the transit of these citizens, facilitating their return to their homeland. This activity is carried out in cooperation with diplomatic missions of foreign states in Ashgabat,” the Foreign Ministry noted.

The operation is being conducted in close coordination with relevant embassies, ensuring the safe and orderly passage of those affected by the situation in neighboring Iran.

Earlier reports indicated that approximately 120 foreign nationals had initially crossed the Iranian-Turkmen border, taking refuge in Turkmenistan as a result of the ongoing regional developments.

Turkmenistan’s humanitarian initiative underscores its policy of neutrality and its readiness to contribute to international peace and humanitarian assistance efforts during times of crisis.
