Kazakh and Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral and Regional Cooperation

Cholpon-Ata, July 1, 2025 – The Europe Today: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov ahead of the scheduled meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), according to media reports.

During their bilateral discussion, the two ministers reviewed the current state and future prospects of Kazakhstan–Russia cooperation, focusing on a range of key areas including political and economic relations, transit and transport infrastructure, energy collaboration, and joint work within international organizations and regional integration frameworks.

Both sides also exchanged views on pressing regional and global issues, reaffirming the importance of continued dialogue and coordination in response to evolving geopolitical challenges.

The high-level meeting took place ahead of the regular session of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers, being held today in Cholpon-Ata under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev. The session brings together top diplomats from CSTO member states to discuss security cooperation and regional stability among member nations.
