President of Turkmenistan Appoints New Deputy Prosecutor General and Director of Main Directorate

Ashgabat, July 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has appointed Muhammetmyrat Sapargulyev as Deputy Prosecutor General and Director of the Main Directorate of the Prosecutor General’s Office, according to a report released by the Turkmen state news agency on Wednesday.

Sapargulyev, who holds the rank of junior counselor of justice, previously served as the prosecutor of the Kopetdag district in Ashgabat. He was relieved of that post upon assuming his new responsibilities. The appointment was made in accordance with Article 16 of Turkmenistan’s Law on the Prosecutor’s Office.

Concurrently, President Berdimuhamedov dismissed Begench Gurbangulyyev, a counselor of justice, from his role as Deputy Prosecutor General and Director of the Main Directorate.

The personnel changes were announced during a regular session of the State Security Council, which reviewed the activities of Turkmenistan’s military and law enforcement agencies for the first half of 2025. The meeting also focused on national security priorities, maintenance of public order, and strategies to enhance the technical and material resources of security institutions.
