Pakistan Seeks to Deepen Multisectoral Ties with ASEAN, Says Deputy PM Ishaq Dar

Islamabad, July 09, 2025 – The Europe Today: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), emphasizing the vast potential to deepen ties across a range of sectors, including trade, tourism, connectivity, information technology, and education.

According to a press release issued by the Office of the Foreign Office Spokesperson, Senator Ishaq Dar made these remarks during a meeting with ASEAN Heads of Missions in Pakistan. The envoys representing Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia called on the Deputy Prime Minister ahead of his scheduled participation in the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting later this week.

The ASEAN envoys acknowledged Pakistan’s longstanding engagement with ASEAN and reaffirmed the importance of the partnership between Pakistan and the regional bloc. They also expressed readiness to work closely with Pakistan to further advance shared goals and regional cooperation.

Senator Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for ASEAN-led mechanisms and its vision of regional peace, prosperity, and multilateralism. He highlighted the significance of greater collaboration between Pakistan and ASEAN member states to leverage mutual complementarities for sustainable development and people-to-people linkages.
