Ashgabat, September 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met on Friday with Mr. Amakawa Kazuhiko, Representative Director and Deputy Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), to discuss further strengthening Turkmen–Japanese partnership.
The meeting underscored the dynamic development of bilateral relations across the full spectrum of cooperation. Both sides noted that the open and trusting political dialogue at the highest level continues to play a crucial role in deepening interstate ties.
Special attention was given to the expansion of the legal framework of cooperation. In this regard, the parties highlighted the significance of bilateral documents signed during the working visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan in April of this year.
The positive experience of cooperation between Turkmenistan and JBIC was acknowledged with satisfaction. The effectiveness of joint projects implemented under bilateral agreements—particularly those financing the construction of large facilities in the oil and gas, electric power, and chemical industries—was emphasized.
The Japanese side highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s open investment policy under the leadership of President Berdimuhamedov and expressed readiness to intensify engagement. Mr. Amakawa confirmed JBIC’s interest in participating in the implementation of major national projects in Turkmenistan.
