Paris, June 17, 2026 – The Europe Today: Kylian Mbappé has written another chapter in football history after scoring twice against Senegal in France’s 3-1 victory, becoming the all-time leading goalscorer for the French national team.
The French forward, Kylian Mbappé, netted his 57th and 58th international goals during the match, surpassing Olivier Giroud to claim the record as France’s highest scorer of all time.
Mbappé’s remarkable form at the ongoing World Cup has also placed him firmly in contention for another historic milestone. With 14 World Cup goals to his name, he has moved ahead of Lionel Messi on the all-time tournament scoring list and now stands just two goals shy of the record held by Germany’s Miroslav Klose, who scored 16 World Cup goals.
If the 27-year-old continues his current scoring run, he is widely expected to challenge multiple long-standing records during the tournament.
France is set to play its next World Cup fixture late Monday evening (local time in Sweden) against Iraq, where Mbappé will once again be in the spotlight as he continues his pursuit of footballing history.
