Ashgabat, July 22, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation to discuss the agenda of Turkmen-Russian bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding humanitarian cooperation and preparations for upcoming high-level meetings.
According to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the phone call took place on July 20, 2026, at the initiative of the Russian side.
During the conversation, the two foreign ministers reviewed key aspects of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties between Turkmenistan and Russia across various sectors.
Meredov and Lavrov also highlighted the importance of enhancing humanitarian cooperation by expanding joint educational and cultural initiatives, underscoring the role of people-to-people exchanges in fostering closer relations between the two countries.
The ministers further discussed preparations for upcoming bilateral and multilateral engagements, including heads-of-state and other high-level events scheduled to be hosted by Turkmenistan in October 2026.
The telephone conversation reflected the continued dialogue between Ashgabat and Moscow and their shared commitment to advancing cooperation and maintaining close coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
