Accra, July 23, 2026 – The Europe Today: Morocco and Ghana have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic and investment cooperation, agreeing to promote private sector partnerships, expand two-way investments and explore new avenues of collaboration across strategic sectors.
The understanding was reached during talks between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, held in Accra on the sidelines of the second session of the Morocco-Ghana Joint Cooperation Commission.
According to a statement issued by Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers reviewed progress in bilateral relations since King Mohammed VI’s official visit to Ghana in February 2017 and expressed satisfaction over the steady expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers welcomed the increasing presence of Moroccan companies in Ghana, particularly in the banking, housing and infrastructure sectors, while encouraging greater Ghanaian investment in Morocco to strengthen two-way investment flows and enhance public-private partnerships.
They identified green energy, logistics and the digital economy as priority areas for future cooperation, while reaffirming their commitment to expanding collaboration in industry, hydrocarbons and mining, energy efficiency, customs cooperation, postal services and agriculture.
To promote trade and commercial exchanges, both sides agreed to encourage the organisation of business missions, business-to-business (B2B) meetings, trade fairs and exhibitions aimed at increasing bilateral trade and improving the trade balance between the two countries.
The two ministers also agreed to facilitate the regular organisation of a Ghana-Morocco Economic and Investment Forum, led by the private sector and hosted alternately by the two countries.
The meeting further reviewed regional development initiatives launched under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. According to the Moroccan Foreign Ministry, the Ghanaian side praised the King’s initiatives aimed at advancing Africa’s development and welcomed the positive momentum created by the African Atlantic States Process.
Ghana also expressed support for the Royal Initiative designed to facilitate Atlantic Ocean access for landlocked Sahel countries, describing it as a practical demonstration of African solidarity and South-South cooperation that would contribute to regional integration and sustainable economic development.
