Ashgabat, July 26, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan has approved the construction of modern railway station buildings in the Ahal, Balkan and Mary regions as part of the country’s broader socio-economic development and transport modernization efforts.
The decision was announced during a regular Cabinet meeting held via a digital system on Friday, where Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Annayev presented a report on ongoing initiatives to improve the railway transport sector.
According to the report, the proposed project aims to enhance the efficiency of the national railway network while providing modern and comfortable working conditions for railway employees. Annayev submitted the relevant proposals to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for consideration.
After reviewing the report, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan continues to implement comprehensive measures to modernize its railway transport infrastructure as part of the country’s long-term development strategy.
The President approved the proposals for the construction of modern railway station buildings in the Ahal, Balkan and Mary regions and instructed the deputy prime minister to undertake the necessary measures to ensure the project’s implementation.
The Cabinet meeting also reviewed a number of other key state matters and adopted corresponding decisions on issues related to the country’s ongoing development agenda.
The railway station project forms part of Turkmenistan’s continued efforts to modernize its transport infrastructure, improve public services and support sustainable socio-economic growth through enhanced connectivity and upgraded transportation facilities.
