Awaza, October 9, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting in Awaza on Thursday to discuss the further development of bilateral relations and the expansion of cooperation across key sectors.
At the outset of the meeting, President Rahmon thanked his Turkmen counterpart for the invitation and warm hospitality, highlighting the steady progress in relations between the two countries across areas of mutual interest.
Both leaders expressed their commitment to further advancing bilateral ties in the spirit of a deepened strategic partnership, emphasizing the importance of continued engagement and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The discussions covered a broad range of issues related to political dialogue, trade and economic relations, transport and logistics, transit cooperation, and collaboration in the energy and fuel sectors.
The two presidents also focused on strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, recognizing their importance in promoting closer relations and greater understanding between the peoples of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
In addition, the leaders exchanged views on selected regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan to maintaining constructive political dialogue, expanding economic cooperation and further strengthening their strategic partnership for the benefit of both countries.
