Russia

Islamabad, October 14, 2026 – The Europe Today: Russian Minister of the Interior Vladimir Kolokoltsev held talks with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Tuesday, focusing on strengthening bilateral law enforcement cooperation and addressing emerging security threats.

During the meeting, Kolokoltsev emphasised that cooperation between Russia and Pakistan in law enforcement was firmly rooted in the two countries’ friendly, constructive and mutually beneficial relations.

He noted that Russia regarded Pakistan as an important partner in countering the politicisation of international law enforcement cooperation, including within the United Nations.

The discussions focused on a wide range of security challenges, including international organised crime, terrorism, extremism, illicit trafficking in weapons and drugs, and the growing threat of cybercrime.

Particular attention was given to cyber-enabled offences, including telephone scams, phishing attacks and cryptocurrency-related pyramid schemes, which pose increasing challenges to law enforcement agencies.

Kolokoltsev underscored the importance of prompt information exchange, enhanced cooperation through the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and the sharing of expertise in cybercrime investigations.

He stressed that closer coordination between the relevant agencies of both countries would help strengthen their capacity to respond effectively to transnational criminal activities and evolving security threats.

The Russian interior minister also welcomed existing cooperation in professional training and expressed Moscow’s readiness to expand professional development programmes for Pakistani law enforcement specialists.

He highlighted the importance of continued engagement and the exchange of professional experience to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement institutions in both countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Kolokoltsev thanked Naqvi for the constructive discussions and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies.

The talks underscored the shared interest of Russia and Pakistan in enhancing security cooperation, improving coordination against transnational crime and developing professional ties between their respective law enforcement institutions.
