Berdimuhamedov

Gabala, October 8, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and other heads of state and government attending the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took part, via online format, in a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for a mosque to be built by Turkmenistan in the city of Fuzuli.

The upcoming mosque complex, a generous gift from Turkmenistan, will be built on an area exceeding one hectare. It will feature two minarets rising 40 meters high and a central dome reaching 30 meters in height. The mosque will have the capacity to accommodate up to 500 worshippers simultaneously.

This project forms part of the broader reconstruction and restoration efforts in the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions, initiated by the Azerbaijani government and supported by member and observer states of the OTS.

In addition to the mosque construction by Turkmenistan, several other OTS members have contributed to the revitalization of the liberated territories. Uzbekistan has built the Mirzo Ulugbek School in Fuzuli, Kazakhstan has established the Kurmangazy Children’s Creativity Center in the same city, and Kyrgyzstan has constructed the Manas School in Aghdam. Hungary, an observer state, is currently building a school in Jabrayil, while Turkish companies are actively participating in the construction of tunnels, bridges, and road infrastructure across the region.

The mosque project symbolizes the solidarity, friendship, and shared cultural and spiritual values uniting the Turkic world, reflecting the collective commitment of OTS member states to support Azerbaijan’s post-conflict reconstruction and sustainable development.
