Beijing, January 01, 2024, The Europe Today: Official data indicates that China’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region sustained notable development in 2022, propelled by a commitment to innovative and green initiatives. The Chinese National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported a regional development index of 145 points, marking a 5.1-point increase from the previous year. Key contributors to this growth were the sub-readings in innovation and green development, which rose by 11.6 and 7.7 points, respectively, compared to 2021.
The region exhibited a research and development spending to gross domestic product ratio of 4.25 percent, a 0.18 percentage point increase from 2021. Total goods exports and imports for the region reached 757.58 billion U.S. dollars, reflecting a 10.2 percent year-on-year increase. Furthermore, 2022 brought improved air quality, with the average density of PM2.5 dropping to 37 micrograms per cubic meter.
This progress aligns with China’s 2015 coordinated development plan for Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, showcasing advancements in various sectors, including environmental protection, public services, and transportation.
