Jeddah, March 10, 2024, The Europe Today: In a dream debut for Ferrari, British teenager Oliver Bearman etched his name in Formula One history during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on Saturday. The 18-year-old, the youngest-ever rookie for the Italian team, not only claimed the title of Driver of the Day but also demonstrated his potential as a future talent in the sport.
Bearman, stepping in as a stand-in for the ailing Carlos Sainz, started the race from the 11th position and showcased remarkable skill to finish in an impressive seventh place. The teenager’s standout performance earned him accolades from fans, fellow drivers, and team members alike.
Reflecting on his debut, Bearman admitted, “I don’t even know what happened in the race. It’s weird to not watch an F1 race.” He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share the track with seasoned drivers like McLaren’s Lando Norris and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, whom he held off in the final moments of the race.
Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, who finished third, praised Bearman’s extraordinary performance, stating, “Today he’s been incredible. Everybody has noticed how talented he is, and I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before he’s in F1.”
