Paris, March 22, 2024, The Europe Today: French forward Kylian Mbappe has hinted that he expects to finalize his club destination before the commencement of the European Championship in June, amid intense speculation surrounding his future.
Mbappe, currently plying his trade at Paris St Germain, is poised to depart the club in the upcoming summer transfer window. Speaking to reporters on Friday ahead of France’s friendly against Germany, the 25-year-old expressed his focus on representing his national team in the Euros, as well as the potential opportunity to feature in the Olympics in Paris, contingent upon his eligibility for selection.
“As of now, I have not made any announcements regarding my future as there is nothing concrete to disclose… I have always maintained that once I have a decision to share, I will do so in a dignified manner,” Mbappe affirmed.
Asserting his belief that his future will be resolved prior to the commencement of the Euros, Mbappe indicated a forthcoming resolution to the ongoing speculation surrounding his club destination.
While expressing his desire to participate in the Olympics, Mbappe conceded that the final decision rests beyond his control.
“The prospect of competing in the Olympics has always been a dream of mine, and that remains unchanged… However, if circumstances dictate otherwise, I will comply with the directives given to me,” Mbappe remarked.
The men’s soccer tournament at the Olympics features Under-23 sides, with only a limited number of players above the age threshold permitted in each squad.
Meanwhile, France head coach Didier Deschamps emphasized the significance of the friendly encounter against Germany, highlighting its importance in fine-tuning the team ahead of the Euros.
“While this may not be a competitive fixture, the encounter against Germany remains highly significant,” Deschamps stated. “Every match provides valuable insights, and we will utilize these opportunities to gather further information before finalizing our squad.”
Following the friendly against Germany, France is scheduled to face Chile in another friendly clash before commencing their Euros campaign against Austria on June 17.
