Ashgabat, June 26, 2024, The Europe Today: Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, held a meeting with Rana Tanvir Hussain, the Federal Minister of Industry and Production of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The meeting, as reported by TDH, focused on exploring the prospects for developing interstate relations between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
Minister Hussain conveyed greetings from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He acknowledged Berdimuhamedov’s significant contributions to strengthening bilateral cooperation and highlighted Turkmenistan’s recent achievements, particularly the construction of the new “smart” city of Arkadag.
Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, emphasized the importance of the fruitful interstate dialogue, which is rooted in the historical and cultural connections between the two nations. He expressed confidence that the current visit by the Pakistani minister would further reinforce the bilateral ties.
The discussions during the meeting paid special attention to the implementation of joint energy and communication projects. Key projects include the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the development of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication networks connecting Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (TAP).
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation, recognizing the mutual benefits and strategic importance of their partnership.
This meeting marks a significant step forward in the collaboration between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, promising enhanced cooperation and development in various sectors.
